Spring is coming

Rory and I spent a glorious morning at Forest school in the beautiful sunshine. Jane and “Lolly” (Charlie) are so thoughtful in everything they do, the class is a real pleasure from start to finish. For example, where we all meet (at the entrance to the park) there are little train tracks and tunnels made up out of collected twigs for the children to play with whilst they wait for everyone to gather. Jane then uses a twig and gentle bell to signal the start of our class and we all begin to walk to the forest. When we’re around the corner from our forest classroom they start singing (and encourage us to join in) the below ‘Spring is coming’ song, which Rory adores. It’s all so sweet. Rory spent a large part of his morning making a very ‘stew’ like mud soup before emptying it all over himself. Thank goodness for the brilliant waterproof North Face suit he wears each week! He also lingered around Jane for SIX! helpings of honey and oat warm bread with apple butter and ‘normal butter’ – he likes to mix it up. I can’t tell you how much he loves this snack, he literally dreams about it.
spring is coming, spring is coming
birdies build your nest.
weave together straw and feather
doing each your best.
spring is coming, spring is coming
flowers are waking, too.
daisies, lilies, and daffodillies
now are coming through.
spring is coming, spring is coming
all around is fair.
shimmer, glimmer on the meadow,
joy is everywhere.
