A quiet day. The weather is definitely getting warmer so Rory and I headed to the park for the morning. I spent the afternoon doing a few little things for Valentine’s tomorrow. The gorgeous Appleby family are heading back home to London next week and I honestly don’t know what we’ll do without them, they truly are our New York family. We’re milking every last drop of them, so tonight, the night before Valentine’s we headed out to the restaurant where we all met and our lovely family adventures began. Tia Pol. In our old neighborhood, on the corner of their old apartment and ours we met up for a spot of Tapas and the hope of friendship. I had just found out that I was pregnant with Rory, so at that awkward stage where you can’t really drink and you don’t want to explain why. Mel was also pregnant with Mia but didn’t know it yet. The food was amazing, the company fantastic and the rest, as they say, is history. Tonight was a beautiful evening. We sat at the very same table, at the very same places (the hostess indulged our romantic reminiscences) and the food and company were as brilliant as ever. Not quite ready for the night to end, we meandered down by the High Line and stopped off for drinks at Soho House and continued chatting and laughing. It was indeed bittersweet but I can’t help thinking that some people are just meant to meet you at a certain stage in your life, you know, when you really need them and that those friends will stay with you for the rest of your life. When you meet someone really special you make sure you hang on to them. Love you guys.
