Decorating the Christmas Tree

I love Christmas. Cosy nights in with the family with warming suppers or bundling up and seeing lights everywhere with merry friends. It’s all so exciting. One of my favorite days is when we get to choose our Christmas tree, bring it home and decorate it. O and I have a tradition of always commissioning a special decoration to mark each particular year. We usually end up getting them from Paloma’s Nest which has such beautiful things. Since we’re celebrating Christmas here this year, we’ve chosen a porcelain outline of the USA with a love heart depicting our home in Brooklyn with the date.

So this afternoon, we all bundled up and picked out our tree from our local seller. They all smelled and looked amazing but I think we definitely got an handsome one. O carried it home and then with a glass of Glogg, mince pies and Christmas music, we all decorated the tree. Surprisingly, Rory got very into it. He loved the magic of the fairy lights and helping to place the decorations on different branches. He also keeps smelling it and saying “Hello Christmas Tree” whenever he passes it. Very sweet. Obviously the most important job of decorating the tree is the tree topper, for which we have a very lovely little home, personalized with our name. Rory tried hard, but O and I ended up doing it together. A beautiful day with my family that we’ll always remember.
